Candle gift basket arrangement is a great gift idea for those who just can’t get enough of candles.

For a friend who is very creative and loves to make things from her own hands, why not give her a basket full of candle making supplies. You can include waxes, molds, wicks, scents and other paraphernalia used in making a candle. All are relatively inexpensive so it’s best to do research on how much each item costs.

For other occasions, you can give coffee scented waxes or waxes that have a gourmet coffee scent like cappuccino for those who love coffee. You can also include cinnamon and crème brulee scented candles for variety. And you can include ceramic mugs and flavored gourmet coffee beans.

Another great theme for candle gift baskets is sweets. Fill a basket with candies and other types of sweets and include scented wax to mimic the treats.  Or you can opt for fruit basket theme where you mix real fruits and scented candles that have the same scent.

Seasonal candle gift baskets are also becoming popular. Pumpkin and apple are scents for fall while peppermint and spice scented are perfect for the winter.

With creativity and patience of putting things together, you can create a candle gift basket appropriate for any occasion.

One of the challenges of being a parent is finding your child an activity to do during the summer. One idea that comes to mind is a summer camp for kids. However, finding the right camp is very crucial as this can greatly affect your child’s behavior when he or she goes back home.

Most summer camps for kids are actually really nice places where the child is likely to have a good time and make some long lasting friends.

Different camps for kids will cater to special interests of different sorts. For example, if your kid is nothing but a dumb jock, it would be a real mistake for you to send him off to a science camp where his puny brain will be no help at all. Similarly, if your kid is a science geek, sports camps for kids is probably right out of the question. As in all things related to parents, you must be sure to choose carefully.

Attending a summer camp is surely a great experience every child should have. Not only is it great for kids but also for the parents who get at least 6 weeks rest without kids in the house. Ask your child about his interests and check out if there are available camps. A little peace and quiet around the house can be healthy for everyone. :)

Advent Wreath

Holiday, Home Comments Off

Every Christmas, my mother places an Advent wreath on a stand next to the TV to help us remind the true meaning of Christmas.

This particular wreath had a wire base and it is made up of a metal circle with four glass votive holders. She would place evergreen boughs and secure them to the wire base and place votive candles in the holders. My mom had three white candles and a pink one which she would light during the third week of the Advent. This was done to symbolize the that the time for the Savior was approaching. The candles were lit one for each week and were blown out before going to bed.

When I was living on my own for the first time, I looked for a wreath just like we had at home. There were wreathes that you could purchase in the stores; however most of them had artificial greens. A friend of mine suggested making my own wreath out of evergreen bough and placing votive candles in holders inside the ring.

It was perfect. Just like when I was a child. I placed my new wreath in the living room as a center piece. And whenever friends and family come to visit, they would ask me where I bought my wreath and I would just smile.
